We want to invite all students,grades 6-12, to participate in the
4th Annual UTC Mathematics Poster Competition
to be held on Wednesday February 16, 2011 from 10:00AM to 1:00PM. The theme
this year is "Mathematics in Tennessee: Science and Industry", a topic
that we hope will interest your students and inspire some creative entries.

The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each age group will receive
prizes of $200, $100, and $50, respectively. The age groups are:
Category I (6th, 7th, and 8th Grades), Category II (9th and 10th
Grades), and Category III (11th and 12th Grades).

Because the event is being held on a Wednesday, when the University is
in session, they are arranging times for students to visit classrooms
where the professors and lecturers are holding classes. They will also
include a short tour of the Mathematics Department itself, and some
parts of the UTC campus.

form. The release form is necessary for them to display and publish
pictures and names of participants and winners.

During a consultation, one of our home education counselors meets with the parents and student to review past academic successes and determine the needs of that student for successful completion of their graduation requirements.
